I’m Jonathan Diaz.
Baseball has shaped my life.
I started Raise Your Play because I love the game and want kids to enjoy playing while they improve.
My approach brings together what I learned as an infielder, what I see as a scout, and a belief that players need room to discover their own solutions.

My path through the game
From a walk-on to the Major Leagues.
I was a walk-on starter at NC State before the Toronto Blue Jays selected me in the 12th round. I played 12 professional seasons, including time in the Major Leagues.
Defense and shortstop play were central to my game. Preparation and anticipation helped me make plays. I bring that perspective into the way I teach.
Today, my work as a professional scout for the New York Yankees keeps me looking closely at how movement, skills and decisions come together in a player’s game.
What I want for your player
Confidence to think.
Freedom to play.
I want your player to understand what they’re working on and why it matters. That starts with seeing the individual and choosing a manageable next step.
We’ll build athletic movement, work on fielding and throwing, and use challenges that ask players to read and react.
The environment should be supportive, demanding and mistake-friendly. Focus and effort are the standard. Perfection is not.
